Here we celebrate those making a positive impact in conservation and environmental education through the PCCD Conservation Achievement Awards, which honor local leadership in protecting natural resources, and the PCCD Environmental Education Grant, which funds hands-on learning projects and stewardship initiatives. PCCD Conservation Achievement Awards
The Pike County Conservation District Conservation Achievement Awards, established in 2024, are given to an individual, group, or organization that has demonstrated leadership in conservation in Pike County. These awards recognize their great work and desire to go above and beyond to help conserve our natural resources.
There are three categories for this award:
- Conservation Achievement Award- for any individual, group, or organization
- Educator Conservation Achievement Award- for a teacher or educator in Pike County
- Youth Conservation Achievement Award- for a student in grades K-12 in Pike County
Eligibility:
Individuals, groups, or organizations can be nominated by any member of the community. Nominees must have their contributions, projects, programs, etc. contributing directly to conservation efforts in Pike County.
Nominees should demonstrate strength or leadership in one or more of the following categories:
- Demonstrating a long-term commitment and service to natural resource conservation in Pike County
- Achieving outstanding positive impacts on the environment through conservation projects
- Providing beneficial and innovative contributions to better public understanding of conservation issues
Nominations for the 2026 awards will open January 5, 2026, and the deadline to submit will be June 1, 2026, at 4pm.
Nominations will be ranked by our Award Committee who will then present their recommendations to the District Board of Directors for final review. Award recipients will be notified by mail and phone in the late summer/ early fall of 2026. They will be given two complimentary tickets to the 2026 PCCD Annual Luncheon where they will receive their award.

PCCD Environmental Education Grant
The Pike County Conservation District Board of Directors are offering a $500 Environmental Education Project grant for Pike County teacher/classrooms or youth organizations to fund projects that complement the mission of the District:
Pike County Conservation District is committed to the long-term protection and sustainable use of Pike County’s natural resources. We accomplish this through partnership, education, technical assistance, planning, enforcement, and leadership.
Since 2005, this program has distributed a total of $13,000 in grants within Pike County, supporting a range of projects from multiple local organizations, including all three school districts.
Recipients have used funding for initiatives such as a native plant hydroponics system, a composting program, natural pest control research, several native plant gardens, and more!
Deadline to submit an application will be May 1, 2026, at 4pm.
